Condition
The condition of each item is described in most of the listings. Where it is needed.
The focus of this collection is to present items of superb design in the best possible condition for the discerning collector. Please note that even when the item is marked "mint," it is still old and, therefore, is more fragile than a new item.
Excellent condition does not mean mint. If an item has been used, it will generally have at least subtle signs of wear. It is both unrealistic and unreasonable to expect a vintage garment to have the same durability as a new garment.
Collectors of antique laces, linens, and misc textiles are often willing to live with a few minor flaws in order to obtain qualities lacking in modern mass-produced goods, qualities like exquisite hand work and rich, hand-loomed fabrics.
Miscellaneous:
Most items have been cleaned to some degreee. No bleach has been used to damage any threads.
Please contact us for postage and Insurance quotes..I will ship the most money saving way for my custmers to avoid any undue expense.
Washington State residents without a valid resale number must pay sales tax.
Gift Certificates:
Gift Certificates are available in any amount. This is a great gift idea for anyone who loves vintage and antique items, for birthdays, brides, mothers day or just because.

About Kate Henry: Our Professional Textile Evaluator
Kate Henry is a quality identifications professional for dealers, museums and private collectors. She says, "Lace is my all consuming passion, and has been for more than the last forty years. I do not work for anyone else, so I can spend even more time making lace and teaching lacemaking"
Kate Henry has been a bobbin lacemaker for 40+ years, 35 years member of the International Old Lacers Guild, and listed as lace teacher with them and the US based Belgian Lace School. Having made so many types of laces helps immensely in recognizing the details of their differences.
Kate says, "I've been fortunate to have studied with famous teachers: English Buckinghamshire with Doris Southard and Geraldine Stott; English Bedfordshire with Yvonne Scheele-Kerkhof; Danish Tonder with Gunvor Jorgensen; Scandinavian Skansk with Mary Lou Kueker; Figures in lace with Radmila Zuman; Flanders with both Edith Starink and Robin Lewis Wild; Drafting Flanders Blonde, Chantilly, Mechlin, Mechlin Drafting, Belgian Binche, and Lace Design with Ulrike Loehr.
"I worked for three seasons in the textiles department of the University of Illinois at Champaign, cataloging, cleaning, and blocking the white laces collection. I've taught spinning, weaving, quilting, and tatting at the Champaign County Historical Museum for several years, and continue classes in my own studio. My current income is derived from custom orders of reproduction weaving and laces of the 18th Century for reenactors, lectures for historical societies.... and IDs of antique laces for museums and collectors."
